Sony Ericsson to launch Android 3.0 Gingerbread based Gaming Platform Smartphone [Rumor]

Posted: 12 Aug 2010 05:00 AM PDT

When the world is curious about the latest version of Google's smartphone operating system Android 2.2 and its new features, news from reliable sources are confirming something very hard to believe. Sony Ericsson, a company which has ventured deep into entertainment and casual cellphones instead of the more serious smartphones is now planning to revolutionize how gaming systems work on smartphones. The company, which has never released an Android 2 smartphone, is planning to launch a complete gaming platform for the next big version of Android, the Android 3.0. The important thing here is, they're just not planning it but sources have identified that development work is already underway!

The gaming device being designed by Sony Ericsson is believed to be a hybrid mix of the sorts of Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go i.e. a landscape slider with game controls in place of the typical QWERTY keyboard. The phone will also have a large display, preferably between 3.7 and 4.1 inches wide with WVGA or better resolution, and a supposed 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording, but this isn't finalized yet. Also, the entire device would run on an 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. The device is also rumored to carry the PlayStation branding in order to attract more customers with the brand name.

Software side of the device will be running on Android 3.0 Gingerbread, and once the device is launched, the Android market will have a new area specifically designed for downloading and installing games. Games will be graphically in the range of PSX or PSP games, enabling Android to host 3D games! Popular game titles for the PSX and PSP might also be in line for their smartphone version which include God of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and LittleBigPlanet and many more.

Finally, the release date hasn't been confirmed as yet, but sources have predicted that the launch might be as early as October this year. But you never know when a new rumor pops out. So stay tuned to find out more.

Jailbreak iOS 4.0.2 with Redsn0w for iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2G

Posted: 11 Aug 2010 03:40 PM PDT

Apple today released a patch (firmware update) iOS 4.0.2 to download which would fix the PDF exploit being used by JailbreakMe to jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod Touch 3G, 2G and iPad.

JailbreakMe is now not compatible with any of the above devices above, but you can still jailbreak iOS 4.0.2 on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC model).

Taimur, from Redmond Pie, just tested on his iPhone 3G, that Redsn0w can still jailbreak iOS 4.0.2.

Twitter to Launch Their Own Tweet Button

Posted: 11 Aug 2010 11:58 AM PDT

If you are familiar with StumbleUpon and TweetMeme, a service which lets users share web content directly from the webpage they are visiting itself and not logging in to any separate pages, then we've got good news for you. Twitter is introducing its own button feature which will allow users to post and share their favorite web pages or URLs directly to Twitter without using StumbleUpon or any other third party source like TweetMeme etc

clip_image001.

According to documents acquired by mashable, this service is in the pipeline and may be in active usage by as early as tomorrow, which is August 12, 2010. There is a problem however with this early launch: the service may not be available to the entire Twitter subscriber base and may be only a few test accounts get the chance to use the service and then subsequently the service would be expanded.

The official tweet button comes in at three different sizes measuring in at 10 x 20, 55 x 20, and 55 x 63. It also features the Twitter bird alongside the button. The twitter button will make other add-ons pretty useless once it arrives since it will be the best and most optimal piece of utility to use. The creation of an official Twitter button follows similar decisions by Twitter taken in the past where they have presented their own solutions thereby curbing third party Twitter app developers like Atebits for its Tweetie mobile apps or Cloudhopper for its SMS programs in the past.

Let's see how the service runs when Twitter officially ups it in the very near future.
