Adobe has announced that the Flash Player 10.2 for Android will be available for download for Android 2.2, Android 2.3 and Android 3.0 from March 18th. Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) users will have to first get the Android 3.0.1 software update to install the Flash Player 10.2 Beta app.

This is what Adobe has to say about Flash Player 10.2 for Android:

We have been working very closely with Google to ensure tight integration between Flash Player 10.2 and new OS and browser capabilities in Android 3.0.  The March 18th beta release of Flash Player 10.2 in conjunction with Google's first system update to Android 3.0  (version 3.0.1) currently underway for the MOTOROLA XOOM™ will deliver the first phase of our work together.  This will be followed by subsequent updates, which will complete the optimizations and result in a production GA release of Flash Player 10.2 for Android 3.0.

Some of the new feature highlights in Flash Player 10.2 for Android 2.3 / 3.0 are:

• Hardware accelerated video presentation for H.264 (Android 3.0.1+ only)
• Deeper integration with the Android browser rendering engine (Android 3.0.1+ only)
• Enhanced performance for the latest smartphones and tablets
• Automatic soft keyboard support

Flash Player 10.2 for Android will be available for download on March 18.

Flash Player 10.2 for Android 3.0

Motorola XOOM will be getting their first Honeycomb Android 3.0.1 software update tonight which will prepare the tablet to receive Flash Player 10.2 from the Android Market.

Verizon was supposed to ship Flash Player 10.2 with the XOOM at launch, but it was later delayed due to some reasons and is now soon going to be available for download for Motorola XOOM.

You can get the Motorola XOOM Android 3.0.1 (HRI66) software update over 3G or WiFi and install it if your tablet has not been modified. If it is, you will have to restore it back first.

XOOM Android 3.0.1 (HRI66) update will be rolled out in phases. So not everyone will be getting it at the same time.
