Delphi makes a big self-driving acquisition, Amazon updates the Kindle app and Facebook fights fake news. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for October 24, 2017.

1. Delphi buys Nutonomy for $400 million to scale and deliver autonomous vehicles

Automotive company Delphi is looking to boost its self-driving efforts with the acquisition of Boston-based Nutonomy. Delphi's CTO said the company's initial focus will be on self-driving commercial vehicles, but it'll probably move into the consumer market over time.

Elon Musk's response: "Groan."

2. Here are the cars that support iPhone 8 and iPhone X wireless charging

There's one downside: Some charging pads are not large enough for the iPhone 8 Plus, which means you'll have to plug your phone into a cable to charge. There's no workaround if the phone is too big.

4. Amazon revamps the Kindle app with a new design and deeper Goodreads integration

Speaking of Amazon, the company still seems bullish on this whole "reading books" things.

5. Facebook releases new guidelines to address publisher concerns in its fight against fake news

Head of News Feed Adam Mosseri said the guidelines don't represent any changes to Facebook's approach. They're just a way for publishers to understand the strategy.

6. LinkedIn boosts its messaging with smart replies, pre-written, AI based interactions

LinkedIn was testing out smart replies already, but the company is now using more AI tools like machine learning and natural language processing to understand the gist of a conversation and how to help keep it going.

7. AppDynamics founder Jyoti Bansal wastes little time launching a new company

For starters, Bansal teamed up with Rishi Singh, former DevOps platform architect at Apple. Together they are launching a company out of stealth today called Harness, which aims to automate continuous code deployment.
