Yes! The method to root Nexus S is finally available, and guess who did it? Koush of CyanogenMod.

It’s been just one day since the Nexus S went live at Best Buy stores, and the the official Google flagship phone has already been rooted with Superuser permissions on it.

How to Root Nexus S with Android 2.3

Follow the instructions below on how to root the Nexus S with Android 2.3.

  • Go to fastboot / bootloader mode by holding volume up + power buttons.
  • Download the ClockworkMod recovery, and transfer it to your SD card root.
  • Then boot into Clockwork recovery and install the Superuser zip file. Download Superuser.
  • Your Neuxs S is now rooted and also has a custom recovery!

LinkedIn Android Beta App Launched

LinkedIn has rolled out their very first, official Android app in beta. The app is not available in the Android Market as they are still testing out the app.

This new LinkedIn Mobile app for Android devices is in public beta with basic features at the moment, but LinkedIn team is slowly going to add more features to the app.

How to Get Nexus S Recovery Mode

Nexus S has been launched in stores and people who have got their hands on it are already messing around with the device trying to break in Gingerbread and port it to other devices.

Our first bet would be that Gingerbread on the Nexus S will first get ported to the Samsung Galaxy S. Anyways, if you want to get into the recovery mode on Nexus S, follow the instructions after the jump.

  • Power down the Nexus S.
  • Now hold volume up + power keys together.
  • You’re now in the fastboot mode.
  • Select Recovery and you’re good to go!

How to Unlock Nexus S Bootloader

Nexus S went live at Best Buy stores from today, and I’m sure many of you Android fans would have probably got one by now.

We’re not yet confirmed if there is a method available to root Nexus S, but you can easily unlock Nexus S bootloader.

How to Unlock Nexus S Bootloader

It’s the same method used for the Nexus One, and now it works for the Nexus S as well. Follow the steps below to unlock Nexus S bootloader.

Remember: Unlocking your bootloader will perform a factory reset!

  1. Open command prompt
  2. Navigate to Android SDK directory.
  3. Type adb reboot bootloader
  4. Type fastboot oem unlock
  5. Use volume keys to select ‘yes, unlock bootloader’
  6. Use power button to select option
  7. And you’re done!

Google Maps 5.0 has just been released to the Android Market and is now available for download – and yes, that includes all the 3D maps sweetness!

The new Google Maps 5.0 was demonstrated by Andy Rubin at an interview at D: Dive Into Mobile.

This new version brings a lot of new features, such as offline navigation of downloaded maps, maps caching, 3D maps etc.
