Microsoft Buys Skype for $8.5 Million

Skype

Microsoft has just bought Skype for a whopping $8.5 million! This is not just based on rumours. WSJ and AllThingsD have confirmed that the acquisition deal has been made, and official announcement will follow tomorrow morning.

Talks to buy Skype has been rumoured a number of times,  but this time it is confirmed that Microsoft has bought Skype. Facebook was also in line to get Skype, but Microsoft got away with the Skype, thanks to such a high bid.

Now what for Skype? From what we see, Skype will be integrated into Windows Live Messenger and soon we would be able to voice and video chat between friends on Skype and Windows Live Messenger – just like chat is possible with Yahoo! Messenger friends.

Do you think the outcome of this deal will be in the best interest of Skype, or not? Drop your opinion in the comments below.
