THE DAILY CRUNCH
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15 2017 By Darrell Etherington

Net neutrality suffers a major blow, SpaceX enjoys a major accomplishment and AIM signs off for the last time. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for December 15, 2017.

1. The FCC voted to kill net neutrality

Thanks a lot, assholes. Including you, corporate overlord Verizon (which owns TechCrunch via Oath). Maybe especially you.

We'll get this back. Start now – call your congressperson.

2. SpaceX launches a reused spacecraft on a reused rocket

SpaceX really wants to make reusable, affordable spaceflight a thing, and today's launch was a big step toward that goal. Next up, even faster turnaround for rocket reuse.

3. AIM dies

AIM is officially over, which isn't really all that important to anyone except for the sake of nostalgia. Maybe you still miss the telegraph, too.

4. Apple launches podcast analytics in beta

Apple is doing analytics for podcasters that dive a bit deeper, providing anyonymized info including how many devices your episodes hit, as well as the total cumulative time spent listening and the average amount of time spent listening per device. Depending on how well you're doing, this could be either good or bad news in terms of giving you info to report to potential advertisers.

5. Facebook starts showing pre-roll on Watch

Yet another reason to ignore Facebook. It also launched a Snooze button today letting you time-out certain friends from your feed for 30 days, but I've got a better idea – just stop visiting it and delete the app rom your phone.

6. Shervin Pishevar resigns from Sherpa Capital

Uber investor and Hyperloop One cofounder Shervin Pishevar is the latest tech industry leader to become implicated in the ongoing flood of sexual harassment accusations. Pishevar most recently resigned from the VC firm he cofounded as a result of accusations against him re: sexual misconduct, though he vociferously denies their truthfulness in his resignation.

7. Go-Jek acquires three payments startups

Transportation companies are increasingly becoming everything companies, and you should expect this trend to continue. Watch this space.

Also, check out the TechCrunch Gift Guide for 2017. It's very comprehensive, in case you're freaking out about having only 10 days left before Xmas.
