Samsung and Sprint Announces Samsung Epic 4G

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 10:05 AM PDT

clip_image001Samsung has been in the limelight for some time now with their new lineup of smartphones. First the Galaxy S 9000 was announced a few weeks back with Samsung aiming to crack the smartphone market share in its favor. The news today from Samsung is that they're teaming up with Sprint for another Galaxy S smartphone device. The phone is named Epic 4G.

This smartphone features a 4-inch touchscreen, Samsung Hummingbird processor, a fully featured QWERTY keyboard and 5-megapixel 720p HD capable camera. Equipped with 16GB microSD flash memory (expandable upto 32GB), 1GB ROM and 512MB RAM along with a 1500maH battery, the phone will run on Google's Android 2.1 operating system along with Touch Viz 3.0. Not much of a difference from the Galaxy S device announced earlier, although, Sprint is stressing that Android 2.2 will be made available on phone 'in the near future'. The Epic 4G will also have a front facing VGA camera for video calls.

The big difference which comes with this new smartphone is that it will be equipped to work on Sprint's rapidly expanding 4G network. Although no exact price and availability details are available yet, keep your fingers crossed as Samsung and Sprint will be announcing this very, very soon!
